Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) was first established in Japan in 1919 and is a global leader in heavy and precision machinery. Sumitomo Heavy Industries Thailand was established in 2019 as a subsidiary of the Japanese parent company to deliver four of SHI’s primary product lines into Thailand and the wider ASEAN region: mixing vessels, extrusion coating lines, coolant systems, and forklifts.
Target Audiences
SHI Thailand is entirely B2B. The company’s customers are organisations buying heavy and precision machinery components where operational reliability, engineering pedigree, and dependable after-sales service are non-negotiable requirements.

The Project — Scope of Work
Sumitomo’s previous Thai website was outdated and did not reflect the company’s current activities and offers, and the user experience was due for improvement. VIMI was engaged to design and develop the replacement. Scope included:
- Updated technology that allows SHI’s in-house team to maintain the website independently.
- A clear user experience that helps prospective customers in ASEAN quickly understand how SHI’s solutions can benefit them.
